Competence Center for on-the-go Consumption

What is the role of the committee?

Definition of objectives:

The Competence Center for on-the-go Consumption deals with the further development of the on-the-go consumption sector. For this, it researches the entire area of on-the-go consumption and gives all activities a scientific basis. The Competence Center for on-the-go Consumption connects the world of business with the world of science. Both sides benefit from this collaboration: business practice inspires science and provides cues as to which questions are interesting for and relevant to it. Science, for its part, inspires business practice with the “view from outside” and provides important impulses through current research findings.

History:

The Competence Center for on-the-go Consumption was founded in 2008 at the EBS Business School in Oestrich-Winkel. During the first six years, it was known as the Competence Center for Convenience. The Competence Center was affiliated with the Lekkerland Foundation Chair for Convenience & Marketing at the EBS Business School. This position was assumed by Prof. Dr. Sabine Benoit (née Möller) in 2007. In 2013 – following Prof. Dr. Sabine Benoit’s move to the University of Surrey, London, Great Britain – it was renamed as the Competence Center for on-the-go Consumption. The new name represents the wider range of research of today’s Competence Center for on-the-go Consumption.

Activities:

The Competence Center for on-the-go Consumption regularly publishes scientific studies that are carried out under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Sabine Benoit. More information and downloadable versions of the studies can be found here.

The work of the Competence Center for on-the-go Consumption is supported by an advisory board, with a view to promoting the exchange between business practice and science. The board meets three times a year. You can find more information about the advisory board here.

In order to make the results of the studies available to the widest possible audience, these are regularly presented at conferences and events. An overview of the lectures can be found here.
